No wisdom files are needed if you're on an Intel Mac. Even if you're on PowerPC, wisdom files from the past should probably not be used with v8 builds because of version differences between the FFTW...

Actually, I'm more interested in the fact that you're seeing the new apps being slower than the old apps primarily on shorter WUs, which points to some sort of difference in the FFTW libraries...

O ye of little faith!

No, I didn't forget about all of you, but as time went on, it became easier to just do small-scale (rather than real-world) testing. Also, it eventually became clear to me...

This could be happening because the app is built against a relatively old version of the BOINC libraries. I haven't made a habit of actually building from something more recent from CVS, so in theory...

Last I checked, the analysis that the app does hasn't changed for MB, so in theory, current apps accompanied by modified app_info.xml files would produce valid science. However, the issue of credit...

I think you've asking a very good question. As things are now, I actually maintain two Xcode projects in order to build with ICC for x86 and GCC for PPC, so perhaps I should just release the two...

Make sure your brother's Mac Pro has all four memory channels occupied with matching FB-DIMMs. SETI is sensitive to memory bandwidth, so having only two of the four channels populated (which is often...

Yes, I'm still alive. Unfortunately, performance on v8 is not yet where I want it to be on PowerPC, so I'm going to take some time to investigate whether or not I'm overlooking something. I also...

Your times seem about right for a Core Duo at that clockspeed. It's reasonable for a similarly-clocked Core 2 Duo to vastly outperform your Core Duo, because the architectural improvements in...
