Works fine on my AIX workstation using the CDE gui. Not sure what you are seeing as I havent enjoyed using KDE long enough to familiarize myself with it.

I found the Dev Tools on the Software Restore CDs.

Hopefully Apple will come up with a more intuitive way to install/uninstall/reinstall software in the future.

Well I've just never needed to burn a DVD =) But, I do burn Data/Audio CDs alot. So the Combo drive is the better deal for me it would seem.

The only difference I can tell (and I'm new to the Apple world btw) is the Superdrive can create DVDs yet it burns data CDs at a slower speed. And you can only use iDVD with SuperDrive.
