Look at the videocard. You need at least 64Mb Video-RAM.
The first PB17" are not suitable for Motion. At this moment you can also get with 124Mb.

FCP-HD needs a lot of RAM because of the RT-applications. If less RAM is available you need to render. So you can use FCP, but with the minimum given requirements you will work much faster.

Others I hear, uses cheaps brands, with bad results.

Unbelievable you sell your 17"PB.

Specialy if you know that FCP can handle ALL type of video-formats. A pc handles only the specific formats, like DV or SDI or HD.
