On my 15" Albook, I hear the sounds when I'm not accessing my hard drive. Occasional ka-chunks and "mouse-clicks". I can only hear these when it's really quiet.

same here. I have the Fujitsu HD on my 15" Albook. The clicking can get annoying when it's really quiet. Still thinking if I should return it. But otherwise, it's a perfect machine.

i've been a switcher myself since oct 2001. partitioning a mac is so easy you might want to do it a couple of times. :) just stick in your boot os x dvd and go to disk...

I believe the D-link wireless routers have a serial port where you can hook up an external modem, could be cheaper than the Airport Base Station. The ABS is much simpler to install and use though.

Sounds normal. I have an iBook and a Canon DV camera that both have lithium ion batteries and they discharge slowly over time. I think it helps preserve the battery material.
