If you're really into games, I'd honestly say stick with the PC, or wait for the new Mac desktop machines (the lowest end 'MacPro' will be a good gaming rig and roughly in the same bracket as a good...

Good point - it's the external database of metadata that makes iTunes so useful.
However, with text documents it's certainly possible to extract some metadata (as Spotlight and Google do).
