The backlight brightness is adjustable. From barely noticeable in the dark, to bright enough for anybody. I really like the way the letters glow. They look sharp.

MCE does have a combo drive that fits. I've found that MacResQ resells the MCE drive for $30 less than MCE lists it.

My sysadmin replaced our CEO's tiBook combo drive...
