Two things: I got my G3 800 and it installed in 5 mins and works great! It's a very nice upgrade for the price. The "1st 8GB" rule only applies to Beige G3s.

I will be getting a G3 800. The G4 ZIFs will NEVER go faster than 550 without overclocking (with that motherboard), and the 800 more than makes up for the lack of Altivec.
