What happens when you change the default application to open up when a DVD is inserted? (System Preferences -> CDs & DVDs). For example, select "Ignore" and then insert the DVD.

What OS build? Upgrade to latest (which is 10.3.7 as of 3/1/2005), as one of the 10.3 point upgrades had a nasty bug requiring a hack to link a cache for speed-up.

Remember to clean up your caches...

Yes, with Camino (and Mozilla and Firefox), I get a blank screen and no error text. With Safari, immediately after pressing ENTER, I get an error message ("can't load yada yada").

Ti667 DVI. The fan was strong and noisy, but you had to really force it to come off. Only thing I heard was the nice clicking my HD used to make and my keyboard tap sounds.

Asking the obvious: what does it say in his/her .Mac System Preference? If it's filled with a username/pass, that "mysterious" connection might be to .Mac mail which Mail.app puts in automatically.
