I got mine today, from Aspyr directly. It comes on one DVD which is nice, and runs great on my G5(2Ghz/9600) at 1280x1024, best quality. So far, very impressed...

That's right. The FX 5950 also has Mac compatiblity, but the card was never built. Apple seems to be favoring ATI again these days with the higher end cards, so maybe this one will grab Apple's...

The annoying thing was other user accounts could use iChat...but mine...

It's a pity because on Windows MX 2004 is a fantastic upgrade....and very speedy even on sub-1ghz machines. Plus, the PC version has the single-window interface that the Mac lacks.

For industrial design, you need NURBS and I'd go with SloidThinking. Great preogram, and the OSX port is really slick. FormZ is nice too, but suited more towards architecture than form design.

Why not get an Apple tech out to fix it? If it's a brand new machine, the warranty will cover a new motherboard. I had a tech come out and swap the board on my G4...didn't cost me a cent.

Putting in newer GeForce (3, 4Ti or 4MX) in a G4/400/450/500 wouldn't give you much of a boost over a 2MX or Radeon, but his 533 should have a 4xAGP, so the boost would be noticable.

Apple and Motorola have squeezed about as much speed out of the G4 as they can right now. Add to that that the G4s in current machines aren't DDR aware, and the crappy motherboard...Apple's "Pro"...
