My copy of iLife '05 came with an install CD, so I would assume you could install that way, and save the DVD as an image and burn it from an external drive.

I would think it would suit you very well. It is hard to compare Apples to Oranges, no pun intended. I think I have read the G5, would be equivilant to a P4 . Someone else will jump in with better...
