i dont use aperture but i know that it is similar to lightroom, which i do use. neither of these applications will let you composite images as they are not deep-pixel editors, but rather RAW editors...

I used to sell them at Target and I'll tell you they were pretty sweet looking. I don't know how well they integrate with Mac but being able to put SDHC in it is pretty nice.
