You should be ok then. Ring the AppleStore in the UK. They told me that as long as your mac SHIPS after the 8th, you are entitled to the upgrade.

I was told EXACTLY the same thing by the AppleStore UK. Purchase date is the date the mac ships. So, if it has not shipped yet, you are entitled to the upgrade.
