Thanks for the reply. Did that and still a no go. Very odd as the drive shows up in the 'about this mac' area. I have the jumper on 'cable select'. Maybe if I try it in a different spot.

I installed a pioneer dvd drive (dvr-110) that I purchased from macsales.com and told the slaeguy i was inexperienced with macs. He told me to install the drive...
