P, assuming I am running my applications plus OS under 2gb used memory, are you saying that having 3gb (1+2) will encounter a slight performance hit versus 4gb (2+2)?

I was also looking at getting the 24" with the 1gb and adding another 2gb ram module from OWC for $115. So then I would have 3gb total (orig 1gb plus 2gb). Does anyone know if there is a problem...

go ahead and add the 1gb stick and leave one of the original 256mb sticks in the other slot. This should give you 1.25gb which should be a nice boost.

The one you listed is only 4200rpm. I would go for a faster 5400. If you can find a 7200rpm drive it will be even faster. The faster the rpm the less battery life you may get though.
