Well, when I put in my CC# is told me that if I paid with CC the number would be stored and the policy auto renewed, so my assumption is it is yearly. Still, well worth the peace of mind.

Something that so far hasn't been addressed in this thread. If you want a 12" and you want DVD burning, only the PowerBook 12" has a SuperDrive option. Otherwise you would have to go for the 14"...
