I have an old EZ Quest CDRW external firewire drive which is very slow and I have since upgrade to a new CD_RW drive.
This got me to wonder could I take out the CDRW drive from the EZ Quest case...

Actually, if you intend to buy a PB/iBook, an extended warranty from apple is good value. Try getting a PB fixed out of warranty and it can cost you an arm and a leg.
