i was having problems trying to view it through quicktime 6.3, but after i installed quicktime 3GPP it worked fine, u might try that, it worked for me anyways

i recently edited a movie in imovie 3 and added pic's iv'e taken, and yes u are right about the quality, they don't look right in imovie, but after i finished editing my movie and exported it to iDVD...
