Hi Sako. The keyboard lighting on the PB 17 is white, although it has a slightly blue-ish cast to it. But it's white, not purple as it appears on the Apple Web site.

Hi nagromme! I don't know if it's actually counterbalanced or just smooth. The screen takes very little effort to open after the initial spring opening. I guess you could say it's very fluid.
