Nothing wrong with that - IBM makes the best laptops and desktops on the PC side. Nothing beats the reliability of the Thinkpad (except maybe the Toughbooks).

Probably not. But system restore in Windows will not get your data back from a format/reinstall of the OS. It will only rollback the drivers and such to a "known good configuration".
