just make sure the screen is lit very evenly and you get a good backlight on the subject for seperation.

cinepaint is a free tool that will do this also. and yes AE combustion and shake are all capable of this but I would recomend using commotion.

depends on what the scratches and dust look like. do they move a lot? If not in commotion you can automate the touchups.

i tested both a new dvd-rw and a previosuley used on powermac dvd-rw .... both memorex.
the previousely used both erased and wrote on the 17 albook. the new one failed.

I used premiere for 2 years before moving to FCP .... I think having AE you will not need the compositing/ color correction etc. that FCP offers which premiere does not.

I find FCP to run a lot...

pro tools with an mbox will do the 2 channels at once... not sure about voice activation ...never had a need for that... it's pretty afordable compared to the higher end pro tools systems. logic will...

it really depends on what your doing ... I use a dual 800 and a 17 inch labtop they both run great with fcp... yes the dual renders faster. The larger the render the time .. the bigger the difference...

use the 3 way color corrector and move the mid blues up about half way ... and the high blues all the way up

then add a desaturate filter put it about 1/3 of the way in.

then add a grain filter...

make your highlights very bluish white ... midtones a little blue .... desaturate your image a lot ... and add a lot of grain.

I have been using shake for awhile now .... I used to use after effects daily and replaced it with shake. I have also used commotion and combustion. I agree shake is the best ... mostly for speed......
