Energy settings 903 Views / 8 Replies
FWIW, make sure your iBook is set to highest performance in energy settings. If you are like me, you have it autochanging between being plugged in and on battery: high performance and longest battery...

Unless I'm just not seeing it correctly, you've ordered the right ram for a 1ghz G4 iBook. The 1.07 ghz your machine is showing (is that what system profiller shows?) is a non issue: that is a 1 ghz...

Increasing the memory will improve performance to an extent, but it won't be a cure-all. The truth is the P4 desktop is going to be faster based on many things that we don't need to go into....

yeah, I've had my iBook G4 since November 03 and it is a great computer. I have had Internet Explorer crash and that's pretty much it in terms of crashes, and I really like the wireless networking. ...

load speed 1,076 Views / 10 Replies
I understand the comment about the load speed of some applications on the iBook being slower than some applications in Windows. Overall though, some of that is misleading if one is comparing...

I was dinking around in the local Frys yesterday and had to look at the various Apple gear and I have to agree that the 12 inch powerbook looked very tiny not that I'm used to the 933 mhz 14 inch...

I downloaded a program called Macstumbler that just scans for wireless networks and tells you all the relevent details about those networks. Then you can try to join. Works quite well. Do some google...

I think it all gets back to what a user is doing. If a user mostly surfs the net, writes some stuff and all that, an iBook is plenty adequate and I sincerly scoff at the "iBook is slow" comments from...
