For me, it isn't just the Finder. It is all Carbon applications...

Screen capture does not work when you have DVD player open. However, just use vlc (http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=14738&db=mac). It is a DVD player that does not disable Grab in OSX.
