Yeah windows can blow up the text..but the icons are stuck at about 50x50 px fixed size. Compared to OS X's scaled 128x128 max icons that's poor.

Can't really recommend a display - Apple do make...

Yeah you can have screen spanning doctor on the ibook-and VNC enabled under sharing prefs-get the imac to connect to display 2, have them conected thru ethernet - if that makes sense to you.

Yeah problem with that g6 chip...like the G5 but worse-it uses many many watts of power and theres NO WAY it'll get into a laptop. Probably just about fit into a MacPro style enclosure.
