Strange solution:! I just ran a software update in Windows (via Apple Software Update). It updated iTunes and Quicktime, and now I have no problems getting past the proxy!

I have this exact same problem. The crash data says its the cfnetwork.dll that's causing the crash. I've reported it to Apple, and we'll see how long it takes to fix!
