Not only does it make a horrible noise when trying to burn CDs, but it also sometimes refuses to burn them at all!
the noise is VERY loud and VERY annoying
any ideas?
i checked the CDs i'm trying to burn, the tops do have paper labels but they are all smooth, and or are perfectly centered

IIRC, your Powerbook does not have a CDR drive, only DVD. Apple only offered it as a BTO with the Revision 2.

Your PowerBook G4...it's 400MHz. When Apple was selling those, they didn't offer a built in CD burner.
