This is not really meant as a bitch, but more like an observation. Apple seems to be very good at mailing invoices that arrive pretty expeditiously. They're not so good on mailing the product itself.

I ordered OS X Beta at about 7:30 a. m. American East Coast time on the 13th of September. The order page at the Apple Store tells me that the thing shipped on the 16th. Now here it is the 23rd, and altough I got the invoice yesterday, I still haven't gotten the CD, and obviously won't do so until Monday at the earliest.

And for those of you who think that the tracking number listed on the Apple Store page will really tell you what's happened to your order, thin again. In my case, at least, it draws a blank.

The wait is getting very boring.
And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear

Yes it is unfortunate. As was pointed out when discussing whether or not the Beta should be downloadable, Apple just does not have the resources. They handle "normal time" business wonderfully. I ordered a BTO G4 at the beginning of the summer, and it did arrive a few days later than was originally projected. But I was not displeased - it was, after all, a BTO. However, it is just not practical for Apple to pay for all kinds of extra production/support/etc. for occasional product introductions. Other companies have the same kinds of problems, and nobody likes it, but that's the way it is. Oh well.
