Not to be outdone by the 'other' playoffs at this time of the year, here is a thread about the Stanley Cup playoffs. No pool or anything like just some good ol' smack talk and such.

To start, I'll say that I don't know why they even play these games, they'd better give the Cup to Steve Y., it would avoid aggravation and pain to all the other teams.

Go WINGS!!!!

This thread title format looks familiar... except the 'p' in playoffs should be capitalized

Wow, this place gives a lot more love to hockey than basketball. That's the opposite of real life. Impressive.

There really has not been too much fighting this year actually. The Wings have been involved in 3 fights all season. I expect that to change for the playoffs though.

The funny thing is people will say that the Wings bought the Cup and blah blah blah if the win. So many people said they were gonna die with the salary cap. It amuses me.

The Wings have a deal with Satan. That is why they win. Mike Illitch is aligned with the forces of darkness and is conspiring to bring pain and suffering to the world. To root for the Wings is to root for the forces of evil.

Hockeytown, USA is an anagram for ANUS CHEW TOKYO. Think about that for a minute.

Actually, Satan plays for the Islanders, and they didn't make the playoffs.

My Avs will win one game in the first series and be done in 5. Peter the Spleens Flyers will be done in the first round as well. Then I will stop watching Hockey untils next season.
Wings will win the cup. Yay.

But at least Vancouver imploded and we don't have to watch them in the playoffs! Hahahahahaah! The Canuckleheads sux.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Apparently, Illitch's deal with Beelzebub includes a clause that the Tigers will suck for as long as the Wings do well.

You can thank the Blues for that. The Canucks got 0 points in 4 games against the worst team in the league.

What's funny is that both teams end up in the exact same place, but the Blues have the top pick. Who's laughing now. God, do I hate Vancouver. Wait a second, I hate Colorado too...

come to think, about it, I hate just about every team! Screw you all!

not playoffs related but still....

oh man, i watched the Blackhawks play the Wild one night on TV and wow......Chicago...Chicago...Chicago. Seriously, you're killin me here! It was like, they had no concept to where their players were on the ice. No offense, no defense, no passing skills. It was painful to watch..

to quote Homer Simpson: "They were the sucky'est bunch of sucks that ever sucked"

ok, im done now

Go Lightning!

I haven't been very impressed with them over the last few games, but I'm still hoping they pull something off and make something of this playoff.

I got to a bar on Friday night and caught the start of the 3rd period of our game against Ottawa. 1 - 0 to us. 10 minutes later I wasn't so eager to keep watching. We went down 4 - 1.

As hockey fans can we all agree that OLN sucks. It's like watching a local cable channel. The sound is so bad that I have to crank up the volume.

Yeah, the sound is awful and they lost their feed at least 4 times on Friday. Switching back and forth between different games sucks when one of them is on OLN; if you forget to change the volume you get blasted.

I think ESPN is going to cover some games starting in the semifinals, then NBC has the finals. I could be wrong, but I hope that's right. I'd love to watch at least a few of the games in HD.

Go Toskala!

iLikebeer, ESPN is out. NBC will be picking up a limited number of games in the first two rounds, then more for the conference and Cup finals.

Being right on the border, I'm glad that I get CBC...if there's a game being played, they're showing it, and doing it well.

Ouch, ESPN is the only HD channel I get that might have carried a game. Does anyone know if DirecTV carries CBC? I can't seem to find it on their site. I ordered the Center Ice for the first 2 rounds of playoffs, but might have to hope local channels from AZ will carry all the games from the last 2 rounds.

Center ice will show CBC IF the game is not on national network or cable (i.e. NBC or OLN) or shown by your local Fox. For instance, friday night game between the Wings and Oilers was supposedly shown on CBC and OLN, but was not anywhere in Center Ice (DishNetwork). And since Dish does not carry OLN (and all I have with them are the locals anyways) I was SOL..... Well almost, I ended up watching the game through an iChat feed!!! Not such a good picture quality though...

I watched the Devils Rangers game because it was in HD and I have just gotten my 55" HDTV installed. Good God it looked amazing.

There hasn't been that much fighting. A lot of the fights have been protecting the goalie or other players that got boarded, roughed, or destroyed like Umberger in the Flyers/Sabres game.

Anyone see that crazyass shot in the Wings/Oilers game?

Bounced off 3 skates and a pole before it went in. It was like pinball.

Heh, I would have watched that game on an iPod if that's what it took to see the Red Wings lose.

We were going to do something similar for a Coyotes fan from Australia in the coyotes myspace group. Set up an iChat session and broadcast the game to him over a webcam off an HDTV. Poor guy has listened to almost every game over nhl.com radio and never seen one on tv.
