I finally stumped up for .Mac today so I'd thought I'd give Backup a whirl, selected all my files I wanted to backup, clicked Backup now, it asked me to insert a CD so I did, and that's where the errors occurs:

The errors appear from top to bottom, finally the standard CD-R dialog appears (bottom).

I can't even get onto the Support forum section which I've now paid for:

http://discuss.mac.com/webx?13@@!lang=en

I just get redirected to www.mac.com

Why do I feel I've bee well and truly stuffed?

Anyway, has anyone else had this problem? Or know what the cause of it is?

Well, it seems that Backup is a sensitive chap. It wouldn't burn the CD when I selected my icons folder for backup. Same as a few items in my Documents folder.

Backup 1.3+ here we come...

Backup is extremely picky. I was able to backup all of my App's prefs but I kept getting an error when it tried to backup the NetInfo preferences Oh well, it's not that hard to just uncheck the unwelcome pref file.

Well I formatted just to see how the restore feature works.

Before the format I had a single partition, I've formatted and I've got 2 partitions with my "Home" directory on the second partition.

Suffice to say it didn't dump the files back in the right place. It simply mirrored the files structure on the CD and then back onto the first partition.

Surely it wouldn't take my work to dump my "Pictures" folder at ~/Pictures instead of Users/Dazzla/Pictures.

*sigh*

I've gotten the exact same errors. All I want to do is backup my home folder, but for some reason it "generates errors" every time I do.

Hopefully Backup 1.3 (or whatever) will get rid of these problems. It almost seems like Backup has issues with permissions, or locked files...

I am also having errors everytime it tries to automatically backup, when I manually backup its fine, but when I try to do scheduled backups it freezes on "backup requires a .mac membership" even though I have a perfectly functioning trial period, and I can manually backup. Weird, cause it used to work before (maybe not since 10.2 - cant recall)
