I have not seen anyone claim that Apple Pay would FIX inherent flaws in the credit card model. It makes it more convenient, and makes the *transmission* more secure.
This is just a sensationalist headline.

It's apple click-bait I agree. But I'm not sure I should expect a third-party to solve a credit card companies flaws.

Good ol' Turtle, still snapping at my dick.
I never said it was a great headline, or that the headline summarized my views. My comment does though.

Before in other threads. We've had threads about Apple Pay before, you know.
Why do we all have to fight about every damn thing?

Because you have to backpedal about every damn thing. Somehow everyone on this forum always misunderstand what you're trying to say.

What do you find sensationalist about the article? The headline I'll give you.

The fact that the technology in Apple/NFC Pay ITSELF is not the issue. The issue is that credit cards are being stolen, but NOT BECAUSE OF APPLE PAY.
That's like saying "1Password isn't secure" if your password is 12345 or stolen.
This is more of a "no, shit, Sherlock" article, using fear tactics for hits.
Rather, the flaw lies in credit cards themselves.
The article might as well say "Man put credit card into Apple Pay. What happened next you won't believe".
Typical Gizmodo crap.

This is exactly my point though. The fact that you can steal a credit card is precisely what exposes the weaknesses in our current mainstream payment models, including Apple Pay. In my original post I said that Apple Pay is a stepping stone, precisely because of this reason.
The real future lies in anonymous transactions, single use tokens (and/or account numbers), tokenization, blockchain technology, etc. Apple Pay tokenizes, so again, a step in the right direction, but there shouldn't be a physical instrument I can steal to gain access to our funds this way.

Memorize your card numbers, put cards in safe or SD box, problem solved.

CNP (Card Not Present) transactions have problems of their own, you are absolutely not solving the problem this way.
