I have a good friend with a (my old) Dual 500mhz G4, and he got a Iomega CR-RW USB2.0 drive... He wants to burn his iphoto 2.3 library onto CD...

How can he do it under 10.2.8? or can he?

When we insert a blank CD and re-boot the computer, the finder seems to recognize there is a disk in the drive and asks what to do with it, but there is no image mounted onto the desktop which seems odd.

Any recommendations? that cost no money?

When the Finder prompts you to choose what to do with the disc, what option do you choose? If you choose Open in Finder you'll get the icon, but I assume that choosing the iPhoto option won't show it on the desktop, just as what happens when you choose to use the disc with iTunes. I have never attempted to burn a photo disc, but if my assumption is correct you should simply be able to choose Burn in iPhoto. If the drive doesn't function, then it's time to check for driver updates from Iomega. And if nothing else works, tell your friend not to purchase an Iomega USB optical drive for his Mac next time.

Yeah, his version if iPhoto doesn't burn disks (must have come out later).. and I can't get his computer to mount the disk onto the desk top. Seems like at a minimum his desk top show show the disk once it's discovered by the computer, no?
