Pictionary plus Hangman plus Words with Friends.
Look at this one of two ways. Be jealous these guys are pulling in $10,000 a minute with this app and not play it, or figure if they're making that much money the shit be pretty good.
There's a free version, but pay the buck for the one without ads. The more you play the game, the more ads you end up watching. You'll play the game a lot. Do the math.

How do you know they're making that kind of money?

Desperately needs the ability to comment on your friend's drawings.

I've heard they're going to add that, but I usually write something like "that was supposed to be a mop?" and then erase it and start over.
One of the unique aspects of it is you can tell a story with the order in which you draw stuff.

I heard the designers mention it in an interview, however it should be noted they were expressing shock instead of bragging.

And... the fun is over. Zynga just gobbled them up for $200MM. Five times more than they paid for Words with Friends.
I guess the silver lining is they won't feel compelled to flood the market with crummy knock-offs.

Fun!
Is it bad form to use words? I've had random players just write out clues or even the word. :/

I feel it should be strictly verboten. Even sound effects. Arrows are okay.

I'm loosening up a little on words.
I had the word "whiskers" and I drew a cat with arrows pointing to the whiskers.
The person I'm playing with knows my cat, and the drawing sorta looked like my cat, so I put the cat's name there.
I felt it was okay since what I wrote wasn't directly related to the word being guessed. At least assuming they could tell my drawing was a cat in the first place, which I think I'm safe with. Wouldn't feel the same way were I to draw a dog, so I think my dog's name would be cheating.

I bet they made $10K in one of their minutes but not continuously...however, they'll use that number every chance they get as it's impressive.

Here's a quote from The Naked Gun 2 1/2 I feel is fitting here:
Lt. Frank Drebin: Oh, it's all right. I'm sure that we can handle this situation maturely, just like the responsible adults that we are. Isn't that right, Mr... Poopy Pants?

Just got a push notification they added "birdpoop".
You don't need to make the game dirty and gross. The players do that on their own.
Zynga's the guy at the party who adds to a round of clever innuendo with an AIDS joke.

The game is clearly become a victim of its own success. Almost everyone I know hits this wall where playing becomes too much pressure.
Relatedly, Zynga is trying to prop up the revenue stream with corporate sponsorship for words.

A pox on those players who write the actual word instead of attempting a drawing. A pox on them I say.
However, I thought it was nice that Star Wars came up in my word choice today. May the fourth be with you, Draw Something.
