can you upgrade this drive to burn at 2x? Any input appreciated, and yes I already did I search and didnt really find anything that answered this.

yes, there is a patch that upgrades de drive's firmware, it will allow you to bur DVD's at 2X and CD's at 16X ...

AFAIK it still does not work in panther though.

you mean for installation or once already installed, with panther as the main OS ?

anyone know if this works in panther? I am running 10.3.1 and I am not abotu to install it until I know its legit in the new OS.

Why wouldn't it work? It's not like it's a software driver. Your changing the firmware on the actual drive. Now the firmware INSTALLER may not work on Panther.

My drive burns at 2X in Panther. (I installed the firmware in X.2 though - haven't tried it in Panther.)

Installed in Panther, seems to work fine in Panther.

15" TiBook 1GHz.
