i bought the ipod without the usb charging cable, so i went to the store and got it, i plugged it into my imac g5, then into the ipod (15gb), and it seems like it wont charge? i hold the play button down, and the apple comes up, then the dead battery flashes in the middle of the screen , and turns off.. any ideas?

My iPod won't charge with the USB... I always use the Firewire port... as a matter of fact, if you use the socket plug thingie that plugs into the electrical socket in the wall, that requires the FireWire from the iPod to the to the socket unit...

oh thanks, yeah i asked my friend tonight that also has an ipod, and he told me i need the firewire, not the usb cord, thanks for the response though!
