OK. So I have the whine...And I have the sleepy MacBook issue too. Yay.
I'm relatively certain I have the CPU whine and not the screen whine. Screen brightness has nothing to do with it, but it will go away with just about any app the puts a load on the CPU...At least temporarily. PhotoBooth stops it the entire time it's running. Launching anything that uses rosetta stops it at least during the launch. I can hear a change in the pitch as I do some things too...
Apple seems to be treating my issue as a screen power inverter issue, so they're asking me to send it in for service.
At the same time, my MBP also like to sleep...As in, not wake up when I ask it to. Well, that doesn't seem to be 100% accurate. The screen doesn't come on, but the pulsing sleep light goes off. It will make noises if I adjust the volume or type on the keyboard, but the screen stays black.
Apple has had me reset my PMU, reset the PRAM, now they want me to archive and install...
Now here's the kicker...It's going in for service for the first issue ANYWAY...But they don't want to just check it out while they have it...They want me to reinstall the OS and test the sleep issue...But I'm also supposed to be shipping it to them as expeditiously as possible to get the other repair done. No sense.
I've had the whine and the sleep issue since day one. I thought I was hallucinating about the whine, but I started calling about the sleep issue on the 3rd incident...And I've called back 3 other times. I first called about the whine last week and they were all over it...
Anyone else get the double whammy of a sleepy MBP that whines all the time?
