Hello!

I have a DVI connection on my MBP (like everyone, heh) and I know that the audio output is optical...

...so, why haven't I been able to find a one-in-all cable which merges these two signals into HDMI so I can plug it into my Sony Bravia TV?

Seems obvious to me, but perhaps I must look outside Sweden to find such a cable. Or online?

HDMI audio is electrical, not optical.

because hdmi already carries audio signal and video all in one cable, less wires running around. so it would be stupid to add optical. which is another audio cable.

He's asking if there's a cable/converter that has a DVI and optical (video and sound) connector on one end, and has an HDMI connector (video and sound) on the other...

If such a creature exists, it would likely be pretty expensive because it would have to have a converter to take the optical signal and translate it to an electrical signal.

Wow, what a beast!

So it really takes that much electronics to convert a signal from optical to electrical? Hmm... perhaps it is best to wait for the Slingcatcher then.

Thanks for the tips and help!
