This should be a no-brainer but my folders open up with icons instead of lists whenever I restart. I'm thinking I have a .DS_STORE file missing, (or..maybe corrupted?)

Having to re-adjust, close the side window and list items for each folder, each time after reboot is somewhat of a pain.

Any tips are appreciated.

try -
delete finder.plist file (in your user prefs)
repair permissions.

Thanks fisherKing. I tried what you suggested but without success.

But now I'm baffled. Turns out that I don't have a single .DS_STORE file on my entire system! (visible or invisible)

I verified and repaired volume from Install DVD, re-booted, and still no .DS files. Weird.

My only option now is to go in my backup drive and copy a .ds and drop it in my current system.

Fixed!

A small app. called Xupport resets hidden files such as .ds_store. Without it my next step was to start everything from scratch. Whew.

: )
