the G4 powerbooks are definitely more delicate the G3 powerbooks. i believe all the common issues have been resolved with the machines and "good ones" are being shipped. the dvd loading doesnt seem to be a problem and the batteries for the most part sit well. my machine, however, did develop a vertical line spanning the entire height of the display for no apparent reason. i believe its hardware because if i screen capture i dont see the line in the image. im sending it out to apple but all in all, its still an awesome machine. just be gentle with it. i say go with a G4 and be smart. keep it away from potential scratch areas and dont drop it.
