So with Apple's 30th birthday on the horizon, do we think we will see a 30th Anniversary Mac? I know the 20th one was kind of a flop, but its not about that, its about the fact it was one of the most amazing;y designed macs, and it was made especially to hail their achievments over the past 20 years. Now, 10 years on, what are the chances we will se a 30th Anniversary Mac?
iMac Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 1.25GB RAM | 160HD, MacBook Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 13.3" | 60HD | 1.0GB RAM

the 20th anniversary Mac bombed because it cost $10,000.

Anywho, if anything I think they will just come out with a black iMac or special iPod.

I think they'll have some kind of 30th anniversary sale on all Macs. Prolly last a few weeks.

Well, that $10K price included the unit being delivered in a limo and installed by a man in a tux... It was really around $3K-4K and ended the 10 month life cycle at around $1,999.

Yes, but it'll be the 30th anniversary of the company, not the Mac (which just turned 22), so they can reasonably commemorate it with, um, well, whatever the hell they want. I'm hoping they bring back the Apple IIGS. Or maybe an iPod with a built-in Lisa emulator.

I would think the new system wouldn't be a nostalgia machine, but rather a cutting edge system... like the 20th anniversary system was when it was introduced.

I could see a 30" HD iMac like system with quad processors, amazing built in speakers, wireless everything (but power), amazing built in video, blue-ray/HD-DVD, bla bla bla. All the bells and whistles. Just like the 20th...

I won't expect anything in particular so that I won't be disappointed. A sale would be awesome.

Well, I would think nobody would take the IIGS comment seriously (though it was a cool machine in its day...)

That sounds pretty dope. Don't see it happening or anything, but if it did, I'd totally want one..

Cutting-edge?!? The 20th Anniversary Mac (TAM) was a totally cool machine, but hardly cutting-edge technology. It was, in essence, a low-end Power Mac (one of those that was really a Performa) with an LCD and nice speakers built in. The regular version (the Power Mac 5500) cost $2000 new. Cutting-edge at the time was the Power Mac 9600, which was tons faster.

It looks like Steve has man-boobs in that picture. He needs a Manssiere.

But I'm not expecting a 30th anniversary anything, just so I can be surprised when something is released.

Cutting Edge... not the fastest.

It utilized a LCD long before LCD on the desktop became popular... (granted, there were LCD laptops). It had a wonderfully built in video, audio system, all in a compact system.

It was the iMac... 2 years before the iMac was released... but with an LCD screen. It's much more like the new iMac to be honest. I consider that cutting edge...

Well, it has an incredible amount of technology packed into that system. I still wouldn't mind if Apple packed a cheap TV/Radio tuner in their computers... perhaps upgradable to HD.

I think he reffers to High Definition instead of Hard Drive.
