It isn't there - every other browser has it and for the life of me don't know why Apple leave such a basic feature out. I sent numerous requests for this, but just got ignored...

Export the bookmarks to another browser, such as Camino, which has excellent sorting, then import back.
Having said that, I much prefer Camino to Safari anyway.

Try Bookdog. Alphabetizes and a whole lot more! Syncs, organizes, detects duplicates, etc.
