I'm on the latest Mavericks. I've got a fairly new iMac (1 yr old). I've got an unRAID server (v4.5.4) called "tower" with a shared folder called "media" that I mount via SMB. It's where I store my movies and TV shows for XBMC.
Since Mavericks, I've had all sorts of trouble with this mount. When I go to click on "tower" in the left side of the finder window, I get a pop-up saying it "can't be found". I can't use the "go to server" option because it's still mounted, so I first have to unmount it ("umount /Volumes/media" from Terminal). Once I've unmounted it, I can then use the "go to server" option. But the next time I try to access it... I'm guessing it's usually after a system sleep... I have the same issue. I've gotten to the point where I just leave a terminal window open so I can use the up arrow to quickly bring back the umount command.
I've read that Mavericks moved to SMB2, and the implementation was poor. I've read that connecting to the server using "cifs" (ie, "cifs://tower/") will force it to use the old SMB implementation (version 1), but that doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas??
Also, what's the Terminal command for that cifs mount? If I can find that, then I can at least create an Applescript or shell script to both unmount and remount, to automate this a little.
