Hello all,
My son has just finished converting many of my vinyl albums to digital and I want to add that music to my ipod. Is it as simple as connecting my ipod to my computer, opening itunes, connecting the hard drive with the new music files to my computer and dragging all the new music to my ipod?
Seems simple, which leads me to believe it's probably not the way to do this.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. If I'm understanding correctly, I first have to move all the new music from my son's hard drive into my itunes, before I can move it into my ipod. Sorry, I'm not very computer savvy.
thanks

That’s correct.

Your iPod will be synchronised only with your own iTunes library, not with anything that happens to be on an external hard drive you happen to plug in at some point.

As you add more songs to your library, you can choose whether plugging the iPod into your computer should automatically synchronise the iPod with your library again, adding the new songs to the iPod as well, or whether you want to manually keep track of which songs in your iTunes library are added to your iPod. In any case, the songs you put on your iPod must be in your iTunes library already, that’s correct.

Hi,

Yes you are right. Connect your ipod to the computer, then it'll automatically sync. The music files in your iTunes library will be transferred to your ipod. If you want additional files, just click add file/folder to the library.
