From the picture it looks a little like an iMac without the big chin. I guess they've done a lot of work on this.
Can't wait to see it.
Would Apple let a company sell something like this? Insides of a Mac in a custom case with work done to it?

I'm wondering about a warranty and whether or not you can take it to an Apple Store for Apple Genius help.

Who knows?
I believe they made it from an iBook.
Anyways, might be your cup of tea, or not, and its future could be interesting.

Has anyone purchase a ModBook yet? I saw them at MacWorld, and am interested in purchasing one, but I really don't want to buy on online and wait 3 months for it to arrive. Does anyone know if they actually produced more than the 5 demo models?

The store didn't work when I tried it this morning.
I have to say, I don't like that it's a slate and not a convertible. The option to go back to a traditional laptop mode is key for me (my wife and I have Tablet PCs now.) I realize that'd be hard for an aftermarket shop to do, but they might at least be able to create some kind of detachable keyboard base thing like the old Compaq TC 1000.

Are you supposed to carry them around with you everywhere too?

Sure, why not? If you've got a portable bag for your ModBook, then why not stick a wireless keyboard in there as well?

Because your portable bag is actually a 13" sleeve that sits in your backpack with a large binder and two textbooks.

I still don't totally understand why non-specialised markets would want a tablet.

Academics like it because you can take notes on eBooks and Journal articles, take notes at meetings less obtrusively, have your entire library of literature searchable and with you at all times, etc. That is a "specialized market" but it's a fairly large one.
