Hi folks, hope your boxes are running well. Mine is okay, but I'm having a strange, recent issue with Preview.app on my MBP, Santa Rosa 2.2GHz running 10.6.7.
Sometimes PDFs render fine, but sometimes the text appears choppy/blurry. This symptom happens in Preview.app sometimes on PDF opening and sometimes only after I start scrolling within the PDF. It does not revert to looking crisp. I have searched Google and these forums and I'm not sure what the issue is. It may be related to fonts, to anti-aliasing, to the PDF contents themselves -- any ideas out there? Thanks for your time.

Have you checked your Preview preferences? Under PDF, make sure Smooth text and line art is turned on. How do the pdf's appear in Adobe Reader?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for writing. My memory is that the Preview smooth text option was selected originally, and that yesterday I unselected it as part of my troubleshooting. Then today I reselected it on your advice, and now some of the PDFs display correctly. The PDFs all display correctly in Adobe Reader.
However, I can still replicate the issue in some PDFs. There are individual pages where upon scrolling the text gets very choppy in Preview but not in the other apps.
