Hi. I'm looking at picking up a Mac for animation purposes. I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction with my purchase. Do I need a an Intel based Mac, or can I run Maya on a regular Mac? I don' t know anything about Macs, but it looks like a G5 might be enough power for me. Thanks for any help.

Dude, why don't you read the manufacturers website ?

Maya 3D Animation and Visual Effects Software - Autodesk

It has System Requirements listed.

I did read that.. a friend of mine tripped me up regarding Macs telling me that the Mac OS no longer supports older Macs..that was my main concern, that if I got a G5 it would be supported by an operating system that Maya will accept.. I just worded it wrong.

Thanks for the reply though.

The Maya System requirements clearly say an Intel processor is required for Macs.

That the current version of OS X won't run on a G5 is irrelevant.
