I need an application to open .wmv files. I have heard bad things about both Windows Media Player and RealOne Player. Any recommendations as to what I should use to open these files?

VLC or Mplayer OS X.

Windows Media Player is the only one that can play Windows Media 9 files. If it doesn't play in MPlayer or VLC, use WMP.
