What's a good, easy, simple, reliable, mac-friendly, and grandma-friendly way to send large files like digital photos? I know there's a lot of services out there that let you pay to do this on the web, but I don't really want to pay for memberships to compare them...

Any recommendations?

One way, if your grandma has a static IP (or something close to it) is to set up an FTP/SFTP server on her Mac. Then you can just deposit the files right there.

SFTP, maybe.

Do not open up FTP - that's just asking to get attacked.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

No static IP, sadly.

What I did was ordering prints from iPhoto and having them delivered to my grandmother. Worked great for both of us.

If I want to send larger files digitally I use iChat file-transfer (Adium if I send to a Windows user).

I'm sure it won't be hard to teach grandma how to administer an ftp server

Yeah, iChat's probably the best way to do it in this case.
