Tonight is the second time this has happened to my computer since installing Leopard. Yesterday it did this same thing so I did a clean install of the OS. Everything was fine after that until just now. I was downloading a file and when it was done the download folder popped up from the dock but became stuck. Now the dock is stuck in the hide position. I can see four white pixels at the bottom left of my screen. It occasionally disappears at random and it's not there normally.

Here are some screen shots from Activity Monitor of the offending process:

Any ideas to what this could be? I'm not to literate on the technical side of these events.

Perhaps the launch services file is corrupt and causing problems. Look at this post and look for my comment about killing and rebuilding the launch services directory using a program called lsregister.

Thanks for the info. I looked into what you posted but that wasn't the problem. I finally got fed up and did another clean install. Only my standard account was problematic. The Admin account, which I don't really use, was fine. I'm thinking a 3rd party app caused the issue but I could be wrong. If it happens with this attempt I'm giving up and going back to Tiger.

Thanks again!
