I have a 12 inch powerbook, rev D. it has an Ultra ATA 80 gig hard drive. I recently found out about the Hitachi 250 gig SATA hard drive. Will this be compatible with my powerbook?

G4 Powerbook? No. SATA Drives only work on MACBOOK Pro Books.

Your best bet is to invest on a 2.5 drive that has at least 7200 RPM's. Find the latest Performance Upgrades, Firewire and USB Hard Drives, SATA, Memory, Laptop Battery, and more at OWC. It has a cross-reference system that'll show you the proper upgrades needed for your PowerBook. Check it out.

No, you can't use a SATA hard drive in your PowerBook. But you can buy a 250GB UATA hard drive for $130.

Western Digital, huh? I did come across that Scorpio drive but the whole western-digital-being-crappy thing is not a good reason for buying in my opinion. I wonder if better companies make an ATA drive.
