I have all these old software boxes and am trying to purge my room, two huge bins are just software boxes and living in 225sqft means trimming the fat. Do you keep your old software boxes (Games, OS's, clarisWorks, etc) or dump them. I have a ton of old Mac stuff and no space.
What do I do HELP!

If space is that tight, couldn’t you take the disks out of the boxes, and fold the boxes flat so they take up less room?
I wouldn’t throw any of that stuff away, maybe sell it as a lot on eBay or Craigslist if you really want to get rid of it?
I still have original Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace floppies for the Amiga, wish I’d kept the boxes. I think I could get around $20 each if I still had the boxes and card trays.

I collect vintage computer games. What games do you have? Also, what OSes do you have?

Hi, I do charity work, I set up free computernetworks with Apple computers in developing countries. Up till last year I accepted the G3 processor as a minimum (so its OSX.3 capable ) , at the moment I only accept G4 and better. I am sure lots of people would still be happy with a colorful iMac g3 but from my experience the older systems become too unreliable. And they take up expensive cargo space that I could send better systems with.
Also, Apple's minimum system requirements state that that the machine should have USB. Because I don't want to teach the students obsolete technologies that they would never meet outside a museum I stick to that minimum.
I wouldn't accept less than OS9 machines or OS9 software because it would be considered "dumping". Sometimes I also regret having to throw away functional and once fun things that are now useless to our projects but then again, it can be a waste of space.
I hope it's of any help to you

A few years ago I purged a bunch of crap. The only thing I really regret dumping was my original System 7 box. Other than that, I couldn't care less.

Try eBay.
You might make a few bucks and some people with space and nostaligia to fill would probably be interested.

Agreed, there will always be someone that wants it on eBay. Either that or Craigslist. And you could even post what you have in our MarketPlace.

When I moved to England, I got rid of about 5 old macs and boxes of old software, mice, kb and other random stuff. It felt really good and my life is no worse for it.
I gave it all to a neighbor kid who said he was going to eBay it. For all I know it is in his basement still. But not in mine, so I'm ok with that.

Hardware is good to donate but I think all the software (other than the last 2 versions) is useless. At the very least get rid of the boxes and keep the CD's in a sleeve.

I feel your pain, I just moved from a 2 bdrm apartment by myself to a 2 bdrm with a roommate. Go with the 6 month rule: if you haven't touched it in 6 months, you wont miss it. Goodwill, salvation army, local ebay powersellers, battered wife shelters...donate it and get a receipt. Just look at everything and ask yourself if you really NEED it. Don't do pawn shops, they usually give you 1/3 ebay going rate. Just donate it, youll feel good and get a tax writeoff.

You could just recycle the boxes and put the cds (assuming they are cds) in a larger case or something. Then file the manuals. That would at least maximize the space...
d'oh, someone already wrote this. Well...I have nothing new to offer you.

what about all these baseball cards? I have a binder I paid $40 for in '93 full set. I want to get rid of them, but if they can get me good money, I truly need it as I am un-employed.

Could I buy your ClarisWorks stuff, maybe an OS or other Mac Stuff, Act123? I'm from Toronto , Canada and USPS Priority Mail would be an ideal shipment method. Payment
by PayPal is convenient. On EBay I am registered for 2 years as carchdesigner, which you can look up.
Thank you for bringing up the fact that you have all this ClarisWorks stuff.
