I currently run 10.6/iTunes 9 with a calendar event scheduled every weekday morning to run an automator action and then applescript to update and then sync all podcasts to my iPod. Back when iTunes 10 came out I thought I heard these actions might be unsupported, and now that I'm looking to update to 10.7 (and forced to iTunes 10 by default) I'm curious to hear whether I will be able to successfully continue thus behavior.
Anyone with any confirmation/experience?

You are currently making iTunes work harder than I ever have, so no help here.
I do however have 10.7 at home and could theoretically test, if you were to share your script etc.

Fair enough. I'll see what I can do tonight.
I refuse to believe I'm the only person on the internet who syncs their podcasts automatically before they leave for work.

Is the problem that your iPod won't pick up the new episodes on its own? Or that iTunes won't download the newest stuff automatically? Or both?
If you set the podcast to check every hour, that should take care of the latter problem. If you write a script to unmount the iPod, wait 10 seconds, then remount it, that should begin the synching process again.
